South Dakota Company in Trouble With OSHA

Federal security regulators have labeled a southeast South Dakota collection a “severe violator” after a performer died and two others were in earnest injured.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing $210,000 in penalties contrary to Canton-based Adams Thermal Systems Inc., that makes cooling systems for vehicle engines, the Argus Leader reported.

“When a congregation continues to show disregard for the preservation of workers and has willful violations, OSHA has the testimony to put it on the austere violator list,” OSHA spokesman Scott Allen before-mentioned.

Adams Thermal CEO Mike Adams disputed the OSHA claim and reported the company will meet with the government officials and contest the “rigid violator” designation.

“ATS takes security seriously,” Adams said. “It invests the time and money to provide a safe environment.”

OSHA in addition plans to increase unannounced inspections at the Canton put in the ground where more than 500 people work. An ongoing investigation into the dissolution last November of Larry Kinzer, 42, of Sioux Falls, besides could result in OSHA recommending illegal charges, he said.

“We are every part of very saddened by the accident and Larry’s demise,” Adams said. “It is at the forefront of our minds. It is acid on the Kinzer family. Larry was veritably just an inspiration to us, a tireless artisan filled with enthusiasm and ingenuity.”

Kinzer died at the time he became caught in a machinery. His wife, Gail, deferred comment to her barrister, Samuel Goodhope.

“I don’t convinced there is any satisfaction from Gail’s standpoint,” Goodhope said of the OSHA notification. “Beyond that, we really don’t bring forth any comment. She lost her save. Nothing at the end of the lifetime changes that.”

OSHA said one more Adams Thermal employee lost four fingers in a puppet accident in 2004, and last year an employee had several fingers crushed in a bear down.
